Cecelia and Rusty live near Yosemite in California, but their connection with Mexico goes back decades. They previously lived in North San Diego County and spent years traveling extensively throughout Baja and mainland Mexico.

They’ve experienced Mexico as more than tourists.
They built and owned a home in La Ribera on the Sea of Cortez and used it as a base for exploring Baja. They’ve driven the length of the peninsula multiple times and traveled throughout Mexico—from small towns to major cities.

They know Mexico personally.
Their travels have taken them to places including Mexico City, Guadalajara, Cancún, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Monterrey, Culiacán, San Jose del Cabo and many others. Their favorite remains Zihuatanejo.

And that experience is why The Cautious Traveler exists.
Friends and family kept asking the same kinds of questions: Is Mexico safe? Would we know what to do? Where should we stay? Rusty and Cecelia realized they could help people who wanted to experience Mexico but weren't quite comfortable doing it on their own.
